I am still having trouble with Tayler wanting to go to school. She complains almost everyday that she is sick. None the less she was home sick last Thursday and Friday. (I really don't think she was sick.) This morning she was crying again because she didn't get her homework done and she would be Zapped. Which means she will work on her homework during lunch or stay after school. I told her that if she didn't go to school today that she would be grounded for the week. She threw a fit because it is MEA week and they are off of school on Thursday and Friday and that meant that she wouldn't be able to play with her friends. I continued to get ready for work and Tayler went into her room and slammed the door, but came out 5 minutes later ready for school. She got her back pack and went to the bus stop. I drove past the bus stop on my way to work to make sure she hadn't missed the bus. Well, as most of you know it was raining this morning so it took me about an hour to get to work. After being at work for about 10 minutes I get a call from Tayler, she had missed the bus. WHAT?? I am in St. Paul an hour away and she is now at home enjoying her day. I called Kristen Villarreal and she kindly picked up Tayler and took her to school. Sorry Kristen you had to take her to school. But, Thank you!! I later received a call from the school and they are marking Tayler as truant today. Hopefully she will realize that even if she doesn't like shcool, she has to go.

Isn't it amazing at how early on our kids learn to be decieving and tell stories? Parker comes up with some wild stories and excuses why she "can't" do things. Kids are too smart I tell ya, I fear the day mine become teenagers.

I was happy to help, but I am afraid Tayler is not going to be as happy for the help as you were?!? I agree with Jess....I fear the upcoming years.. .with our girls. Karsyn especially.. she already tells some great stories...;-)

I'm sorry Serena hopefully she'll learn her lesson, but knowing kids I doubt it!

Hopefully Tayler will learn her lesson. I had to explain to Nolan many times in second grade just who exactly the truant officer was and what he/she does with kids who refuse to go to school. Scared the crap out of him, too.
I hope tomorrow is a better day! :-)

I had to laugh a little, not that this is funny but I was there oh not so long ago....well it's been awhile but I remeber those days and I fear for them with my kids. I am sure I will get it all back and then some. I tried all the tricks. Don't tell my kids though! Anyways, hopefully it will get better!

Oh Serena! Been there, done that. My own little darlings provided me with LOTS of learning experiences. My gray hairs are no lie. If I can help give me a call. Taylor's always been one of my favorite people.

Serena, I was reading Jessica's blog and decided I wanted to look through some of our cousins blogs as well. I hope Taylor is doing better. Your story made me laugh.
Maybe Taylor needs a day with her mom-- go out for ice cream or something (probably not during the time she misses school when she's suppose to be there-- lol); remind her how much you really care, and wonder why she hates going to school so much. Maybe there's more to it, maybe not. In any instance, a day out with mom for ice cream can't hurt :) Good luck.
